Getting Started With Geru

Modified on Mon, 8 Apr at 5:09 PM

Welcome to GERU!

This handy “Quick Start” guide includes the fundamentals so you can get up to speed using GERU in a few minutes.

Let’s jump right in!

Keep this login link handy. Login to your GERU account here:

Step 1: Create a New Project

To start using GERU, you must first create a new project.

Click the + icon to start your project.

Screenshot_2022-08-09_12.50.21_PM.png

Add a Project Title and Description (optional).

Step 2: Add Your Product/Service or Offer

Adding a Product or Service is optional.  Depending on your goals -- generate leads/downloads, promote content, book appointments, outreach to prospects -- sales may not be your immediate goal.

To add Products or Services to GERU, click the “gear” icon beside the Product section on the right side as shown here.

Screenshot_2022-08-09_12.53.59_PM.png

GERU provides several options to configure products/services as a one-time price or subscription/multi-pay (monthly or yearly).

Next, you must add a Traffic Source (we call this a Traffic Entry Point).

Step 3: Add a Traffic Source(s)

Just click your mouse and drag and drop your Traffic Entry Point onto the canvas as shown here.

When configuring your Traffic Entry traffic costs, there are two options:

Then, to begin adding traffic sources, click your mouse on the Traffic Entry 1 object (or the green plus icon).

Screenshot_2022-08-09_1.01.15_PM.png

When configuring your Traffic Entry traffic costs, there are two options:

  1. Cost Per Click (CPC)
  2. Cost Per Impression (CPM or cost per 1000 impressions)

Note: CPC is more straightforward and easier. CPM is more complex and detailed. Cost Per Click scenario: If your projections are based on acquiring 88 clicks at a cost of $3.21 per click, here’s how that would look when setting up the Traffic Entry (Traffic source = Facebook Ads).

Screenshot_2022-08-09_1.01.29_PM.png

Those numbers shown above were taken from an actual Facebook campaign shown below.

Screenshot_2022-08-09_1.01.42_PM.png

Here’s how these numbers would look when using CPM.
Cost Per Impression scenario: CPM requires more details and data.
Here’s how those Facebook ad stats are entered into GERU as a starting point to simulate CPM traffic costs & volume.

You can then tweak your Monthly Visitors, CPM($), and CTR% to see how this impacts your Revenue, Profit, and other Key Performance Indicators using the Simulator.

Step 4: Map Out Your Funnel

To begin creating your marketing funnel or customer journey, simply click your mouse on an object on the right menu and drag it onto the canvas like this.

Screenshot_2022-08-09_1.10.11_PM.png

Double-click on any object to access the Settings. Set your conversion metrics and various customization options. (Opt-In Page Settings shown below.)

Screenshot_2022-08-09_1.10.21_PM.png

Step 5: Connect Together Your Traffic Entry & Funnel Object(s)

To connect your funnel objects together you have a few options:

Option 1: You can click-and-drag your funnel objects closer together and they will auto-snap connect -- this gives you "square" looking connectors.

Screenshot_2022-08-09_1.11.49_PM.png

Option 2: Mouse click-and-hold on a funnel object's “dot point” or Y (green) or N (red) path image and drag your mouse to the object you wish to connect to -- this gives you curved connectors. See examples shown below.

OR

Screenshot_2022-08-09_1.12.23_PM.png

By following the same step shown above, GERU also supports multi Y-path and N-path connections like this.
Screenshot_2022-08-09_1.12.41_PM.png

This flexibility provides you with many options when mapping your marketing funnels and customer journeys.

Now that you have mapped out your marketing funnel (based on the objectives and goals given to you), it’s time to submit your work.

Add Retargeting Paths (Optional)

The GERU Simulator also lets you map out retargeting (or remarketing) flows. To add retargeting, simply drag and drop a Retargeting Entry (from the left menu) onto the canvas:

Screenshot_2022-08-09_1.13.04_PM.png

GERU can automatically calculate a % of your N-path (No path) traffic and send that into a retargeting campaign.
When adding Retargeting traffic, you have a few extra options.
Ratio %: Leave this at 100% to send 100% of the Retargeting traffic to the included Traffic Sources (example: Facebook). Or, use 50% to split the Retargeting traffic 50/50 between Facebook and Google. For example:

  • Facebook: 50% Ratio
  • Google: 50% Ratio

Revisit Rate %: This is the % of visitors who actually revisit your page via Retargeting. It’s impossible that 100% of your N-path traffic will click on a Retargeting ad and revisit your site. Set a lower Reviti Rate to obtain more realistic projections for Retargeting campaigns.
Note: Some industry reports show that on average, 26% of visitors will return back to your website after seeing a Retargeting ad. (source: https://www.invespcro.com/blog/ad-retargeting-2/)

You can use that 26% as a general (Revisit Rate %) guideline as shown below.

Click The Simulate Button

Once you have followed all the steps above, you can click the orange Simulate button to see your funnel numbers (EPC, CPA, Profit, Revenue and more).

To gain further insight into your marketing funnel numbers, click the “Calculator” toolbar icon to see totals above every object within your funnel.

Step 6: Share/Submit Your Project To Your Instructor

This is the easy part. :-)

There are two options to share your GERU project with your Instructor.

Note: Your Instructor will determine the preferred method shown below.

Option #1: Share the project link

First step, click the Project folder icon.

Option #2: Use “Share URL”
Open the project that you wish to share. Next, on the upper right toolbar, click the “Share” icon as shown here.

Screenshot_2022-08-09_1.38.43_PM.png

Click the “Copy” button to share your funnel map with the simulation. Send this link to your Instructor.
